It may appear that we have disappeared off the grid over these past few months – Perhaps we have. The truth is, we have been whisked away, and swallowed up by a magical land where all of our dreams have come true. When life kind of unravels and blossoms around you into something more beautiful than you ever could have imagined, that’s when you know your stars are in perfect alignment. You know even if you tried to fold life up and put it back in the box, fate would eventually find its way. We have been victim to what has become our utopia, the enchanting divers island of Koh Tao. It welcomed us in, made us fall in love, grew its roots around our arms and legs til we were so entwined that we never want to leave. Feels like home.
Arriving to do our Divemasters in May, it didn’t take long for Koh Tao to feel like home. From day one things felt different. After 3 months of travel, we were happy to be spending more than 5 nights in the same place at the same time. We were happy not to be constantly packing our bags. We were happy we finally had a hot shower (one of the 3 hot showers we have had since being in Thailand).
We were SO happy to be diving. Diving every day. It didn’t take long to meet some amazing people, get completely engrossed in our diving, and for life to start taking its own course. A few days into arriving on Koh Tao, I was handed an opportunity to teach Yoga which was one of my goals for our time over here. Sunset Yoga on the beach what more could you ask for. Not only this but not long into our stay, a guardian angel found us the most beautiful apartment up on the mountain, which overlooks Sairee beach (where we spend most of our time diving/ yoga/ life). We have a million dollar view. There are roosters and squirrels in our garden, geckos on the roof, and flowers everywhere. Every morning we get up at dawn to the call of the roosters, and ride our bikes past the palm trees, down the dirt road toward the beach. The days are spent under the depths of the ocean discovering corals and marine life galore, in the many dive sites that surround Koh Tao. Each night we look down onto the bay and hear the echo of the sounds of the beach parties in the evenings, and see the fire twirlers putting on their nightly show. A few months ago, this all would have felt surreal, now its just natural, this is just our everyday life.
We loved our Divemasters so much that we then went on to do Instructors course, infact we are enjoying the diving so much here, that we don’t really want to leave!
Its like this place has been made for us. Really does feel like home.
So then that question arises – What happens when you embrace a life of travel, then you find a place you fall in love with? …..Perhaps you just stay.
Stay tuned for stories on our diving, Yoga, life.
